LegalWise South Africa has been informed of a cybersecurity incident affecting MIP Holdings, a third-party technology service provider that provides us with software and technology services.
MIP Holdings identified unauthorised access to a legacy system used for software development and support activities and immediately activated its incident response procedures. The matter remains under investigation by MIP Holdings, supported by independent cybersecurity and forensic specialists.
At this stage, there is no evidence of unauthorised access to LegalWise's core systems, Member databases, or transactional platforms. LegalWise's services remain secure, fully operational, and available to our Members and employees.
We are working closely with MIP Holdings and independent cybersecurity experts to understand the full scope and potential impact of the incident, including whether any information relating to Members, or other stakeholders may have been compromised.
We are also assessing the incident in line with our obligations under applicable data protection, privacy, and other legal and regulatory requirements and are engaging with the relevant regulatory authorities.
The investigation remains ongoing. Should it be determined that any LegalWise Members or other individuals have been affected, we will communicate directly with those individuals as soon as reasonably possible.
We encourage our Members to remain vigilant against suspicious communications, including unsolicited emails, messages, or requests for personal information. As a precaution, Members should verify the authenticity of any communication requesting personal or financial information before responding.
The protection of our Members' information remains a top priority. We remain committed to transparency and will provide updates should any material developments arise.
